Meet Your Photographer - Matt Jacques

As a photographer, I believe in the power of visual storytelling to create impactful, layered images that form a narrative on their own or in a series. This is something I aspire to with all of my work, whether I'm on assignment or exploring personal projects.

Community and conservation also figure large in my photography. As we learn more about how large-scale industrial activities and social forces affect the world we live in, I've been lucky to witness how the solutions to some of our biggest challenges often emerge through local leadership.

I hope that my photography reveals some of the inspiring people and organisations that are working every day to help make our collective future brighter, as well as the wild places and species that make this home of ours worth protecting.

I am a proud member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), with formal accreditations in photojournalism and sports photography. While I'm a dedicated generalist at heart, and have worked with clients across a broad range of industries, much of my recent work has focused on wilderness and wildlife conservation.

I learned early on that in order to get my images out into the world, it's beneficial to be able to write as well. Over the past ten years of working as a professional photographer, I've been fortunate to have my images and words published in the Halifax Chronicle Herald, Montecristo Magazine, and The Narwhal among others.

Most recently, I've expanded my story-telling through both video production and taking on the hosting duties for the Battlefords Untapped podcast. Education is another passion of mine, and I've been a regular contributor to the excellent Shutter Muse site, run by my friend and fellow photographer Dan Carr

That's a lot of different hats to wear, but it's all in service of putting the spotlight on incredible people, businesses and organizations that make this world a better place!

I'm happy to offer a wide range of professional photography and video production services to the North Battleford, Saskatchewan community and beyond.

As an accredited member of the Professional Photographers of Canada, you can trust that I have the skills and experience to handle the job. If I don't, I'll say so and gladly refer you to a colleague.

I'm a licensed RPAS (UAV or drone) pilot, and carry liability insurance suitable for any industrial application.
